A few months back the biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe film released and shattered the global box office. The various movies that released close to it had to bear the brunt and by all means, the upcoming Avengers 4 is expected to cause an even bigger mayhem. There are scores of fan theories floating around the internet regarding the grand finale of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s current phase. Same thing was witnessed in the build-up to Infinity War and in particular about the location of the Soul Stone. The Avengers lost the battle because they were not united. While Iron-Man led the bunch that fought on Titan, the Thor and Captain America teams battled on Wakanda, but, in the next battle, Thanos won’t be lucky!
It is easy to recall the crazy theories that had flooded the internet about Soul Stone’s location. Some fans expected it to be with Heimdall or Hela, and others believed it was lost in space and time, and that is why Thanos will use The Space Stone/Time Stone combination to find it. There was another theory that had accurately predicted that Thanos would need to sacrifice a soul to get to the Soul Stone, but, none pinpointed its exact location.
As it turned out, the Soul Stone was at planet Vormir. Thanos had earlier tasked Gamora to find the Soul Stone and she succeeded in locating it, but, she didn’t tell the truth to Thanos. This time, she had to do so in order to save Nebula’s life, and that is why she took Thanos to Vormir. Apart from the revelation of the Soul Stone, we also got the surprise in the form of Red Skull, who was guarding the Soul Stone at Vormir. He guided Thanos to the stone, Gamora was sacrificed, and that was the end of the Red Skull or was it a happily ever after for him? (Avengers 4 might reveal that).
We all kept putting pressure on our brains to find the Soul Stone, but, now it appears that the location was out in the open all along. We only didn’t know where to look, and what to look at! It was never explicitly mentioned that the Soul Stone was at Vormir, but, Vormir was shown twice before Gamora led Thanos on an expedition to the planet. Recently, the Redditor GrandMoff Harry shared an image of Vormir as he re-watched the original Thor film. Take a look at this repeatedly occurring planet which was a part of the first Thor movie, Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War.
It is a glowing dark planet that can be seen in the backdrop of all the images and it has its own moon as well. Vormir is clearly shown in a fleeting moment, but, it does confirm that Marvel plans everything well in advance. Thor released in 2011, and while people might call it just another VFX element that kept going, but, still it is fascinating because we have seen so many instances where Marvel has hidden big mysteries in plain sight. It is beyond doubt that they keep things well planned and coordinated.
The original Ant-Man film showed Janet Van Dyne’s character Wasp in the form of a silhouette when Scott Lang went to the Quantum Realm for the first time, and in the second film, this tiny Easter Egg was the primary concept. Therefore, it blows our mind when we imagine how well Marvel plans its future. Kevin Feige had recently stated that Marvel has its plans sorted out up to 2025, and that proves how they plan for the future. This is the reason why their connections and narratives emerge as fascinating elements for the fans.
Now the upcoming Avengers 4 will once again connect the past films by using time travel. It releases on May 3, next year and the film’s cast includes Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon).
