The actor, Matt Smith, has now joined the movie, Star Wars 9. J.J. Abrams is now filming the very last episode of the Star Wars trilogy. The entire cast has been developing and growing ever since the cameras had started rolling and now, the former Doctor Who actor will be joining the franchise in an unknown role.
It is unclear right now if Matt Smith will play the role of a character that is aligned with The Resistance or one who is on the side of the First Order. There is also a chance that the actor may be playing the role of someone who rides this line like DJ from The Last Jedi.
Smith will join many cast members who will be making their way to the beloved galaxy far, far away. J.J. Abrams does not really have any previous working connections with the actor, Matt Smith, but he is no stranger to science fiction. The actor has spent many seasons as the character, Time Lord on the Doctor Who show and he will remain as a fan-favorite.
He has starred in the movie, Terminator: Genisys in a very small role that could have been developed if the sequels had happened. Smith has played the role of the character, Prince Phillip in the Netflix show, The Crown. For this, he had earned an Emmy nomination. The actor will play the role of the character, Charles Manson in Charlie Says.
The returning cast members are John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Kelly Marie Tran, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver. Anthony Daniels and Mark Hamill will also reprise their roles as C-3PO and Luke Skywalker. Billy Dee Williams will also be making an appearance as the character, LandoCalrissian. The late actress, Carrie Fisher will be back as the character, Leia Organa and here, Lucasfilm will use a few of her footage that had been shot for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi that eventually was cut from the final movie.
As one may expect, all plot details regarding this movie are under wraps and Star Wars 9 is now being billed as the last chapter in the epic Skywalker saga.
Star Wars Episode IX will release on December 20, 2019.
