Ed Boon from NetherRealm Studios had a lot of fighting series to his name and is the co-creator of the popular Mortal Kombat series and also the director for two Injustice fighting games. Boon has also been in talks with Marvel regarding the making of a fighting game which will feature their characters.
Now, he also has an idea of the kind of project he would like to work on- A Marvel vs. DC crossover game.
He had spoken to Game Informer and also gone on to answer a few rapid-fire questions that focused on Mortal Kombat 11, but this had soon diverged to a few other topics.
By the end of this, Boon had asked if he had at least one conversation with Marvel regarding making a game with them:
“I did,” Boon had said.
“But I probably shouldn’t talk about it.”
Game Informer had then asked if Boon had been excited about a Marvel fighting game;
“Oh God yes,” Boon had said.
“We would love to make like a Marvel fighting game, or ‘Marvel vs. DC’ I think would be the coolest.”
NetherRealm Studios is known to be a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, so assuming that Marvel is willing to go along, the very idea of a Marvel vs. DC game is not unheard of as such. It is an idea that has been pitched by many fans before.
Boon had then spoken with Game Informer about the possibility of Neo from The Matrix being featured in Mortal Kombat 11. Boon had then added that there had been no chance of this happening, but he also said that the character had made a guest appearance in Injustice 2.
Mortal Kombat 11 has been scheduled to release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and also PC platforms by April 23rd.
