After a long time, the Mortal Kombat film reboot is now finally happening with James Wan all set to produce. According to an all-new report, the movie will start shooting in South Australia, and the pre-production is set to get underway by this month. It has been expected that the production of the film will use Australian crews and also do some visual effects and post-production work over there. The commercial director, Simon McQuoid is all ready to direct the movie, and this will be his feature directorial debut.
“I’m really happy and excited to be bringing another show back to Australia with ‘Mortal Kombat,’ especially after having such a great experience filming Aquaman,” James Wan said.
A lot of rumours have been making their rounds on the internet about this movie. One of the rumours floating around suggests that Joel Edgerton might be eyed for the role of the character, Kano. Beyond this information, it is not clear which characters from the video game will make appearances in the movie.
James Wan is known for The Conjuring universe of films, which have earned big at the box office for a long time. He has also helped to turn tables for the DCEU with the movie, Aquaman, that had earned $1.14 billion at the box office.
The Mortal Kombat games have made their way to the silver screen before, and the first film having released in the year, 1995. A follow-up movie called, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation had then been released in the year, 1997.
