In a candid discussion with The Wrap earlier, the 48-year-old actor said that the makers of the show ‘D.B.’ Weiss and David Benioff couldn’t ‘have done a better job.’
He said: ‘I mean when I read it…some of the parts of it I’d get, and other parts of it were just completely shocking and surprising.
And it wasn’t; there were none of those horrible — you know shows where it’s a murder mystery, and at the very last minute you find out it doesn’t make sense?
But here all the pieces fit into this massive jigsaw puzzle.”
Nikolai’s character Jamie is among the key characters in this fantasy series written by George R.R. Martin, and he has undergone a great deal of character evolution over the seasons.
Jamie also had a difficult time in Season Seven, when his loyalties to his twin sister and lover Cersei, who is currently occupying the Iron Throne, were stressed beyond reconciliation.
After striking a deal with Daenerys Targaryen on backing them in their battle against the White Walkers, Cersei disclosed that she had no plans of doing such a thing and her only interest was to stay perched on the throne.
Upset with that, Jamie said that he would join them in battle irrespective of her betrayal, and despite having threatened to kill him and revealing that she was expecting their fourth child, he still left her.
As far as their stressed relationship is concerned, the actor revealed: ‘I think it shocked him. It didn’t make sense. They have a future, potentially another shot at having a child, and she’s willing to risk everything for something to him that just doesn’t make sense.’
Earlier in July, HBO’s programming head, Casey Bloys had revealed that the Game of Thrones Season Eight will be aired in the first half of 2019.
