15 Times Actors Played Two Roles Within MCU Without Being Noticed

There is a great trend prevalent in the various Marvel Cinematic Universe films and TV shows wherein they keep casting actors for various side roles, and it puts them in positions where the fans are not even able to notice that they were the same person. Here we present to you a list of such actors.

Sean Gunn

Sean Gunn is the brother of James Gunn (the recently fired director of the two Guardians of the Galaxy films), and he played the role of Kraglin, a fellow ravager, and Yondu Udanta’s follower. However, if you had checked the credits of this film, you would have noticed that he also played a part in creating the physical movements of Rocket the Raccoon. Bradley Cooper gives the voice to Rocket whereas Sean Gunn gives him the physical appearance in a motion-capture suit.

Clancy Brown

Clancy Brown appeared as the ex-commanding officer of Frank Castle in the second season of Daredevil. Castle killed him in the end, but, that wasn’t the end of Clancy’s run with Marvel. Clancy is a brilliant actor, and he has a long career wherein he voiced numerous characters in a number of series and video games. It is amazing to find out that he also voiced Surtur, the fire lord in Thor: Ragnarok.

Alfre Woodard

Alfre Woodard played a villainous role in Luke Cage, but, most people don’t know that she was a part of Captain America: Civil War as well. She had played the role of the dead kid’s mother and influenced Tony to accept the Sokovia Accords. This implies that she made two different MCU appearances in the same year.

Martin Starr

Starr featured as Mr. Harrington in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He was the leader of the Decathlon team comprising of Peter and other students set to compete in a contest to be held in Washington DC. While it was a petty role and hardly noticeable, it was his other MCU performance which was more interesting. If you might recall, he was a part of the Incredible Hulk, in the scene where Bruce Banner entered Culver University. He was the man who allowed Banner entry in lieu of some pizza. The film credits mention Starr as “Computer Nerd,” and he was later named as Amadeus Cho. Amadeus is a popular character in the comics and is related to the Hulk comics.

Damion Poitier

Damion Poitier is an actor and a stunt artist who has worked in several films. 4 of his films are from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he once played the role of a team member of Crossbones and battled Black Widow. Although his other role had no more than 2 to 3 seconds of screen presence, but, it was a major character. He played the role of Thanos in the mid-credits sequence of The Avengers. He also did stunt work in Thor 2 and Captain America: Civil War.

Rob Zombie

An old pal of James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy director), Rob Zombie, is a voice artist. He voiced a Ravager, Navigator. He also voiced an unseen Ravager in the second Guardians of the Galaxy film.

Tony Curran

Tony has so far played two minor roles in the MCU. Once he played the role of Irish Gangster, Finn Cooley who wanted to kill the Punisher, but, instead got killed by him, and his other role was much shorter, but, of an important character. He played the role of Odin’s father, Bor.

Laura Haddock

Laura Haddock also has a couple of minor roles in the MCU, but, one of them was quite important whereas the other was just a filler role. She played the role of a fan who sought an autograph from Captain America when Rogers had first worn his USO Captain America outfit. The second time, she played a role that we might not have noticed was her portrayal of Peter Quill’s mother in Guardians of the Galaxy. We couldn’t have recognized her as she was shown to be bald in the film.

Kenneth Choi

Choi played two characters and both his appearances were at different times. Once he appeared during the World War 2 days in the original Captain America film where he was a member of Captain’s team. He kept playing the same role in Agent Carter as well as Agents of SHIELD. He also played the role of Peter’s school principal in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Enver Gjokaj

Enver’s first MCU appearance was as a policeman who briefly appeared in the battle of New York scene in The Avengers. His other role was more significant, and he played an SSR agent in the two seasons of Agent Carter. He would have played the role longer if the show wasn’t scrapped after the first two seasons.

Nathan Fillion

Nathan Fillion was a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy as an inmate who greeted Star-Lord, but, Groot picked him up by his snoot and slammed in the prison. His second appearance was as Simon Williams in the second GOTG movie’s deleted scene which was based on Earth. He was shown on a few posters for a film festival.

Matt Gerald

Matt Gerald played Melvin Potter in the two seasons of Daredevil. The character is a friend as well as an enemy in the comic books. Gerald also appeared as White Power Dave in the All Hail The King One-Shot which was a part of the Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray edition. The character revealed the fate of Trevor Slattery after Iron-Man 3’s events.

Jonathan Lipow

Jonathan Lipow is among the most renowned MCU voice artists. He has voiced the Hulk as well as Abomination in The Incredible Hulk. His other voice appearance is as the Sakaarans in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Spencer Garrett

Spencer Garrett was seen as a newsreel announcer in Captain America: The First Avenger. His other role was of a doomed Sheriff of Rose Hill in Iron-Man 3. Do you remember the background man when Ellen Brandt attacked Tony Stark in the bar? Yeah, the guy who nearly died for being great at his job.

Benedict Cumberbatch

He is renowned as Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but, he loves to play various motion-capture roles. He played the character of Smaug in the Hobbit trilogy, and this was a proof of his talent in such a role. He also played the Dormammu in his debut film, thus, doing the rare double of the main hero and the main villain in the same film.
